![]() Bond finally killing Mr White in the opening would have the punch that was lacking in the three titles of Diamonds Are Forever and For Your Eyes Only, with the revenge on Blofeld. If Judi Dench’s M is going to leave a posthumous assassination order, then it would mean much more if it were for a character that had already been established, with history with MI6, and has bested them in the past several times. Instead of Bond stalking and killing Marco Sciarra in the pre-title sequence, the plot would move at a much brisker pace if he were replaced as Bond’s quarry in the opening, specifically by Mr White. After a couple of sleepless nights thinking about it, I came up with my own personal changes that could have been made without drastically changing locations, set pieces, or footage shot. This got me thinking about what script changes could be made during production, that would have changed the story without disrupting what had already been shot. After the Sony email hack, elements like these that drew criticism but still remained in the film. It is all well and good to say “Take out Brofeld” or “Don’t put Silva in SPECTRE” but these are little touches and not fundamental to the script itself. Whilst listening to the recent SMERSHPOD Royale episode on Spectre, I gave a lot of thought to the notion that there is a good story deep within Spectre’s script, but it is buried beneath a mess but with some tweaking here and there could be salvaged into a good film. ![]()
